Arsenal have held informal talks with Red Bull Bragantino over a move for 19-year-old right-back Ryan Augusto, according to ESPN Brazil. The Brazilian teenager has broken into Bragantino’s first team this year and is under contract until 2029, with several European clubs monitoring his progress.
Who is Ryan Augusto
Augusto is a 19-year-old right-back who was promoted to Red Bull Bragantino’s senior side at the start of 2026. Since then he has made eight first-team appearances and registered one assist, with the latest of his three league starts coming against Mirassol-SP on October 7. He has also won five caps for Brazil’s Under-20 side this year.
He is still raw, and eight senior games is a small sample. But the profile is clear: an attacking full-back trusted by Bragantino in Brazil’s top flight at 19, with international youth recognition to back up the club form. Transfermarkt currently lists his market value at just €1.00m, which is exactly why Arsenal are moving now rather than waiting for the price to move.
Why Arsenal want him now
Per ESPN Brazil, Arsenal’s interest follows a familiar pattern: identify high-potential South American talent early and get ahead of the competition before a bidding war starts. The report drew the comparison with the deal that took Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano to north London in 2019, when Arsenal acted before the teenager’s value exploded.
The logic is financial as much as sporting. Augusto’s contract runs to the end of 2029, so Bragantino are under no pressure to sell, but a teenager with eight senior appearances is still cheap. If he develops as Arsenal hope, the fee agreed this winter will look like a bargain within two years. Several other European clubs are said to be monitoring him, which explains why Arsenal have made their interest known now.
Where he fits in Arteta’s right-back picture
On paper, right-back is one of the few positions where Arsenal look well stocked. Jurrien Timber and Ben White are the established options, and both Ezri Konsa and Cristhian Mosquera can deputise there. But Timber and White have both had injury problems, and Arsenal’s squad is feeling the strain, with defensive injuries piling up before Tuesday’s Champions League visit of Lille.
Our view is that Augusto would not be signed to start. Arsenal’s approach with this type of recruit is to develop them through the Under-21s and domestic cup ties rather than send them on loan, giving Arteta a low-risk way to assess whether a teenager can handle his demands. The pathway would be gradual: cup minutes this season, then a decision on his role for 2027-28. That is how a £1m punt becomes a first-team option without disrupting a title-winning squad.
What stands in the way
The contract is the biggest obstacle. Tied to Bragantino until the end of 2029, Augusto’s club can name their price and wait, and the presence of other suitors only strengthens their hand. Arsenal have made informal contact only, so there is a long way to go before this becomes a formal negotiation.
There is also the question of need. As our look at the Lille game shows, Arteta’s immediate concern is getting bodies back for the run-in, not adding another teenager to the squad. If the fee rises, Arsenal may decide their money is better spent elsewhere.
For now, the interest is real but early. The story first flagged in our Saturday gossip column is one to watch when the window opens on January 1, with Bragantino’s league season finishing in early December, which makes a winter move logistically straightforward. No bid has been made yet.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
